meeting new people as an "investment" or as something worth doing in its own right?
by "investment" i mean - you have to spend time to get to know someone and find out if they are THE ONE/ Mr-Ms RIGHT.. and its an investment now becuase you eventually get the "good bits" i.e. a longer term/committed relationship in the future
OR
by something worth doing in its own right i mean - you enjoy meeting people and EVEN if it is MR-MS RIGHT you think - I'm enjoying it for what it is now
I hope this makes sense..
so which person are you: INVESTOR, or a MAKE THE MOST OF NOW person?

I don't like to put labels on relationships. I feel that in any GOOD relationship....regardless of if they become a friend, lover, or something more....I come out of it with something I didn't have before...a new person in my life.

Meeting new folks is like a owning an orchard of fruit trees. You have a lot of varieties in the orchard in hopes that you will never grow tired of the fruits that you already have. You plant new ones to expand your palate. Some you that you plant and nurture will thrive and blossom , others will wither and die. Some others will you think that they will never make it. Yet they surprise you.

Definitely, something worth doing all by itself. I think if I were to like the person (really LIKE) and spent real TIME with them, then I might think of it as an investment. I think an "investment" is a way of looking at things when you believe you are getting a "return". I will not spend more time with someone unless I like them, and (of course), then I will expect a "return". Meeting someone for the first time is just that: a meeting. Nothing is invested or lost-- especially if we don't click.--True
